Itinerary
| Day 1 | SINGAPORE - ROME | Welcome to a unique experience! Assemble at Changi Airport for our flight to Rome, the capital of Italy. (Meals on board)
| | Day 2 | ROME - VATICAN CITY - ROME | Upon arrival, head straight to the city for our tour of the ‘Eternal City’, Rome. Our guided tour starts at the world’s smallest state, Vatican City. Visit St Peter’s Basilica, the world’s largest church with Michelangelo’s Pieta, his magnificent dome, Bernini’s famous canopy as well as the incredible mosaics. Walk in the footsteps of Roman emperors during our orientation tour of Rome. Visit the Colosseum & the Roman Forum (entrances included) before we continue to view the Castle of Angels, Victor Emmanuel II Monument and the Venezia Palace. An obligatory stop will be made at the Trevi Fountain, Rome’s most photographed site before we adjourn to the Spanish Steps. If time permits, why not join an optional tour to the Vatican Museum? (Lunch)
| | Day 3 | ROME –SAN GIMIGNANO – PISA – TUSCANY REGION | After breakfast, drive towards the hills of Tuscany. Proceed to one of the most charming of the Tuscan hill towns, San Gimignano. Noted for its medieval towers which dominate the town in the way that sky scrapers dominate modern cities, San Gimignano is also nicknamed ‘Medieval Manhattan’. At its peak, there were more than 70 towers but only 14 remain today. Admire the views of the surrounding hills of Chianti from the Rocca citadel as we head towards the town centre. Drive to the coastal town of Pisa. Visit the ‘Square of Miracles to appreciate the wonderful artistry of one of the wonders of the world, the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Admire the white-marble Duomo, the elaborate Baptistery & the symmetrical Monumental Cemetery perfectly framed by the green lawns of the square. This evening, enjoy a scrumptious a Florentine Steak accompanied by typical Chianti wines. (Breakfast/Florentine Dinner)
| | Day 4 | TUSCANY REGION– FLORENCE – VENETO REGION | Drive up to Piazza Michelangelo for a panoramic view of Florence, the birthplace of Renaissance Art. Embark on a walking tour with our guide to admire Brunelleschi’s masterpiece, the massive dome of the Duomo as well Ghiberti’s legendary Door of Paradise. Proceed to Venice which is famous for its numerous churches, maze of canals and floating gondolas (optional). (Breakfast/Dinner)
| | Day 5 | VENETO REGION – VENICE – MILAN | From Tronchetto, board a private water taxi to Venice. Enjoy a guided tour of St Mark’s Square, the Bridge of Sighs and the Doges Palace, to name a few. Visit one of the fine Venetian Glass Blowing Factories where richly coloured Venetian glass in made into exquisite pieces of art. Travel towards Milan, the financial and fashion capital of Italy. (Breakfast/Dinner)
| | Day 6 | MILAN – LUCERNE | Join our guide for a tour of the Gothic Cathedral (Duomo) and the glass & steel Galleria, the first building in Italy to be lighted by electricity. Make a stop at Sforza Castle which was originally a military fortress with defenses improved by Leonardo da Vinci. In the late afternoon, drive to the charming city of Lucerne sitting on the edge of Lake Lucerne and surrounded by the Alps. Our walking tour starts at the wooden 14th-century Chapel Bridge. Make a photo stop at the Lion Monument, dedicated to Swiss guards who died during the French Revolution. Visit Bucherer, Switzerland’s leading watch & gemstone retailer to marvel at the Aion, the world’s largest indoor rolling ball clock and of course, purchase an authentic Swiss souvenir. (Breakfast/Dinner)
| | Day 7 | LUCERNE – MT TITLIS – INTERLAKEN | Drive to Engelberg where we meet our ski instructor for our ski experience. Don ski boots, ski poles and skis before boarding the cable car for Mt Titlis. Travel on the world’s first revolving cable car, Rotair, to the summit, measuring 10,000 feet above sea level, for more fun in the snow. (Ski lesson included for groups departing December’10-March’11, subject to snow /weather conditions. Alternate mountain excursion and/or ski experience arranged during maintenance 8-19 November’10, during peak season between 18Dec’10 to 05Jan’11 and inclement weather). . Travel to the charming resort of Interlaken, located between 2 sparkling lakes beneath the towering Jungfrau in the Bernese Oberland. This evening, enjoy a typical Swiss Fondue Dinner. (Breakfast / Swiss Fondue Dinner)
| | Day 8 | INTERLAKEN | Spend the day at leisure. Why not consider an optional tour on the unique cogwheel Jungfrau Railway into the heart of the roof of Europe – Jungfraujoch? (Breakfast)
| | Day 9 | INTERLAKEN – BERNE – LAKE GENEVA REGION | Continue to the capital of the Swiss Confederation, Berne. Explore this charming town dotted with Baroque Fountains, the Astronomical Clock and 6 km of Covered Arcades. Visit the mascot of the city at the Bear Pits on foot. Visit the Montreux Christmas Market (open only from 25 November – 24 December 2010). Located on the shores of Lake Geneva, the 16th edition of the market is the most beautiful with 150 artisans & merchants offering thousands of gift ideas & tasting of local specialties in their illuminated chalets decorated in the grand tradition of Christmas. (Breakfast)
| | Day 10 | LAKE GENEVA REGION – ZERMATT (VALAIS REGION) | Make a photo stop at Chateau Chillon, a 1000 year-old architectural jewel located between the shores of Lake Geneva and the Alps. Discover the pleasure of hot thermal water which smoothes the body and calms the mind in an enchanting setting surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Relax in Lavey-les-Bains, a renowned thermal spa and medical centre located in the Rhone Valley (Swim wear & 2 towels required for this excursion). Continue to the Valais-resort of Zermatt, one of Switzerland’s most famous holiday resorts, sitting at the foot of the world renowned Matterhorn and surrounded by the spectacular visual feast of 38 alpine peaks over 4000m high. (Accommodation will be at another city in Valais Region during ski season and in event of road closure). (Breakfast /Lunch/Dinner)
| | Day 11 | ZERMATT (VALAIS REGION) – GENEVA – BURGUNDY REGION | Drive to Geneva for an orientation tour. View the symbol of Geneva, the Jet d’Eau, a fountain with a 140m water jet in Lake Geneva. Make a photo stop at the large Flower Clock, a symbol of the Geneva watch industry, in the English Garden. Walk up to the Old Town, dominated by St Peter’s Cathedral, which stands high above the business district. In the late afternoon, cross the Swiss-Franco border and head for the Burgundy Region, a major wine producing region. (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
| | Day 12 | BURGUNDY REGION - PARIS | Enjoy a scenic drive as we travel through the Burgundy vineyards and make our way to “Gay Paree” – Paris. Upon arrival, join our guide for a tour of this famous city. Drive down the Champs Elysees to Place de la Concorde, the largest public square in Paris which at the gate of the Tuileries Gardens. Make a photo stop at the Arc de Triomphe, a testament to Napoleon’s victories and The Invalids, his final resting place. Drive past the ornate Garnier Opera House and admire the glass pyramid which serves as the entrance to the Louvre Museum. Ascend to the 2nd level of the famous Eiffel Tower, built for the exhibition of 1889, for panoramic views of Paris. (Breakfast / Lunch)
| | Day 13 | PARIS | Enjoy a day at leisure. Spend time exploring its many shopping districts or visit Disneyland Paris, cruise along River Seine or perhaps go for a cabaret show in the evening.
